DSM to Close Clavulanic Acid Site  in Sweden

DSM’s Anti-Infectives business says it will close a clavulanic acid production site at Strängnäs, Sweden. The site mainly produces clavulanic acid, which is used in the formulation of some antibiotics. DSM will close the site toward the end of 2009. About 100 jobs will go as a result of the closure. Closing down the site will cost DSM just over EUR10 million ($14 million) and will be reported as an exceptional item in the company’s fourth quarter financial report, the company says. “It is not possible to maintain a profitable...
