BASF says it has developed a drought-tolerant corn trait through its 50-50 partnership with Monsanto that will boost yield by 6%-10%. The companies plan to launch the trait in corn in 2012 for planting in 2013. BASF's collaboration with Monsanto is the "biggest R&D effort the industry has ever seen," Hans Kast, president and CEO of BASF Plant Science, said at the company's media summit held this week in Washington D.C.
