Asahi Kasei Sets up R&D Facility for Medical Materials

Asahi Kasei Kuraray Medical and Asahi Kasei Medical say they will invest Y1.6 billion ($18.7 million) in a new facility for research and development into materials for medical applications. The medical material laboratory will be established at Nobeoka, Miyazaki, Japan by June 2011. It will build on the two companies' respective technologies relating to hollow-fiber membranes and selective adsorption media, together with technology for evaluation and analysis of biocompatibility.
