Rockwood Begins Expansion of Chemetall Foote Lithium Operations

Rockwood Holdings says its subsidiary Chemetall Foote has begun expansion of its lithium production operation at Silver Peak, NV. The project is part of a previously announced $56.8 million expansion of Rockwood’s lithium capabilities in the U.S.   The expansion includes a well drilling program that will double the capacity of its lithium carbonate production and a geothermal power plant which is expected to make the operation self-sufficient for electric power.
