Researchers Develop Low Cost Nickel Fuel Cell Catalyst

Researchers led by Lin Zhuang, professor of chemistry at Wuhan University (Wuhan, China), say they have developed a nickel-based catalyst for creating anodes in fuel cells. The anode is coated with nickel particles and also features chromium that is tolerant to oxidation. The relatively cheap nickel catalyst would replace precious metal catalysts including those based on platinum.
