EnviroTech :: Alternative fuels India Approves National Policy to Develop Biofuel Sector9:39 AM MDT | September 22, 2008 | Deepti Ramesh The Indian government has approved a national policy on biofuels that aims to increase bioethanol and biodiesel content in gasoline and diesel to 20% by 2017. Gasoline containing about 5% ethanol is currently on sale in India. The policy was prepared by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE; New Delhi), which says the program will give direction to the development of biofuels in India. The government has also approved the establishment of a national biofuel coordination committee, which will be headed by prime minister Manmohan Singh, and of a biofuel...
