EnviroTech :: Alternative fuels Gevo Forms JV for Ethanol-to-Isobutanol Retrofit9:01 AM MDT | June 16, 2011 | Nancy Seewald Biobased isobutanol producer Gevo (Englewood, CO) says it has formed a joint venture with Redfield Energy (Redfield, SD) under which Gevo will retrofit Redfield’s existing ethanol plant into an isobutanol plant that is due for completion in fourth quarter 2012. The project converts a 50-million gals/year ethanol plant into a 38-million gals/year isobutanol plant. Under the jv agreement, Gevo will provide capital and technology for the retrofit in exchange for an undisclosed equity stake in Redfield. Gevo is currently retrofitting its own ethanol...
