DSM Launches Cellulosic Biofuel Project

DSM says it has launched a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for enzyme R&D that enables commercially viable production of biofuels from nonfood or feed-based feedstocks. The launch follows DOE’s announcement last February of a $33.8-million grant program, $7.4 million of which was given to a consortium led by DSM and including Abengoa Bioenergy New Technologies (Chesterfield, MO).
