Butamax Announces Two Biobutanol Retrofit Projects

Butamax Advanced Biofuels (Wilmongton, DE), a Dupont/BP biofuel joint venture, says it has signed contracts to convert two world-scale ethanol facilies in Iowa to biobased isobutanol production. Fagen, which constructed both of the facilities and was recently chosen by Butamax’s parent company DuPont to build its first commercial-scale  cellulosic biofuel facility, will work with Butamax  to retrofit the facilities.
