EnviroTech :: Alternative fuels Berkeley Chemists Develop Potentially Game-changing Catalyst for Making Hydrogen3:52 AM MDT | April 30, 2010 | Alex Scott A team of researchers from the University of California (Berkeley, CA), led by Hemamala Karunadasa, has developed a low cost catalyst based on molybdenum for generating hydrogen. The catalyst, a molybdenum-oxo complex can generate gaseous hydrogen either from water at neutral pH-or from sea water. The chemists say they set out to develop an efficient and inexpensive catalyst for producing large volumes of hydrogen from water as a response to the increasing global demand for more sustainable sources of energy. The research was published earlier this week in... This information is only available to Chemical Week subscribers. Forgot your user ID or password?
