BP and DuPont Expand Biofuels Pact

BP and DuPont say they have expanded their 50-50 biofuels joint venture to include high-octane butanol. The jv initially focused on 1-butanol, a straight-chain alcohol. The companies say they are now developing technologies for 2-butanol and iso-butanol, which can be blended into gasoline at concentrations of above 10% without compromising fuel performance.
