Adoption of Bio-feedstocks Accelerates

The chemical industry’s shift toward renewable feedstocks is accelerating, despite the relatively low price of crude oil, according to a recent report by analysts Frost & Sullivan (London). The market for biorenewable chemicals generated sales of $1.6 billion in 2008 and is set to rise to $5 billion in 2015, the company says.   “The stability and predictability of feedstock prices is motivating the chemical industry to shift its feedstock base,” says Phani Raj Kumar Chinthapalli, senior research analyst at Frost & Sullivan.
