Consortium to develop wood-based biorefinery process

A Swedish-Brazilian consortium has formed Polynol, a three-year initiative resulting from a pilot project in 2012 to build knowledge and business opportunities surrounding the production of second-generation biofuels and biochemicals via sugars, Inventia (Stockholm)—the Swedish partner—has announced. The consortium will now develop a new process for co-production of lignin and second-generation sugar from wood at the pulp mill. The raw material is bagasse and logging residues.
