Spain cuts biodiesel consumption target

The Spanish government has revised down its mandatory biofuel consumption target for biodiesel, from 7% to 4.1%, the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism (Madrid) says in a statement released on 22 February. The decision is aimed at reducing the price of fuel and guaranteeing some stability in the sector. “These new goals will minimize the price of fuel and [provide] time [to] analyze technological developments necessary to achieve the [EU] targets for 2020 of 10% penetration of renewable energy in transport,” the ministry...
