P&G Expects Modest Growth; BASF Shuns Price Pressure

The recession is even affecting the soap and personal care product categories that are considered essential, analysts say. This is partly due to a trend by some consumers seeking to save costs by buying cheaper brands, and at least one formulator, Proctor & Gamble (P&G), has responded with plans to increase its offerings of low-priced products.
