Ethylene spot prices quickly firmed from a low of 45.5 cts/lb, to reach 48 cts-49 cts/lb by CW presstime, as buyers worked to lock in volume for March before feedstocks increase further. Spot propylene markets were quiet. Contract negotiations for polymer-grade propylene for February were being discussed at 2 cts-3.5 cts/lb down, with some compromise at a decrease of 3 cts/lb, sources say.
