Basic Chemicals Price Watch

BASF says it increased the price of polytetrahydrofuran due to poor margins caused by the economic downturn. Prices increased by 6 cts/lb in North America, €75/m.t. in Europe, and $200/m.t. in Asia, effective May 1 or as contracts allow. Dow Chemical’s Dow Europe says it increased polyurethane raw material prices in Africa, the Mideast, and the Indian subcontinent due to rising feedstock and energy costs.
