Waterways: Must MRGO Go?
The Mississippi River Gulf Outlet (MrGo) provides deep-draft, ocean-going vessels with access to the Port of New Orleans' Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (IHNC) wharves, but has been blamed for much of the flooding from Hurricane Katrina, and for destroying the wetlands. This panel discusses the issues at stake for businesses using the outlet for transportation, as well as the initiatives that the industry and organizations have adopted to save MrGo. It will also explore broader issues in waterways transportation.
