Higher prices helped drive up third-quarter earnings in paints and coatings, despite some end market weakness and consumer caution. Prices are expected to come down a bit, which means margins may rise next year.

Amyris has signed a deal with Method Products, a supplier of green personal care products to big box retailers, to jointly develop renewable ingredients for those products from Amyris’ biobased farnesene. The deal covers surfactants, solvents, and other ingredients, and could include a supply agreement if successful.
