CHEM IDEAS 3M Held Hostage2:27 PM MDT | March 27, 2009 | By VINCENT VALK
Is the office hostage situation the new emblem of the global recession?
OK, probably not. But don’t tell that to the manager at a 3M plant in France who was barricaded in his office by laid-off employees. Now, France has a tradition of – let’s call them labor issues – so managers in other countries are probably safe. And the manager in question, Luc Rousselet of 3M’s facility at Pithiviers, emerged unscathed once an agreement was reached on conditions for the laid-off workers. If the layoffs continue, though, "plant security" may take on a whole new meaning. Hat tip: FP Passport. |
