CHEM IDEAS Plastics Fate Decided by Phases of the Moon2:42 PM MST | January 23, 2009 | By JOHN PEARSON
Don’t underestimate the power of China’s buyers. Every year, plastics demand falls sharply in February when the Chinese take their Lunar New Year holiday. This year, observers will be watch with added anticipation. By the start of February we should know just how bad the current recession is going to be.
If Chinese buyers, looking to restock, come back strongly into the market after their break, the dip is likely to be shallow and not too long. If they do not, we look set for a major downswing as new capacity meets falling demand. What are you hearing from China as the Year of the Ox approaches? Gon Xi Fa Cai. |
