BASF has confirmed plans to invest in a world-scale acrylic acid, butyl acrylate and superabsorbent polymers (SAP) manufacturing complex in Brazil. The company has selected the Camaçari, Bahia, site for the investment. The complex, which will require an investment in excess of €500 million, will be the first acrylic acid and SAP manufacturing facilities in South America. It will be the largest investment in BASF’s century-long history in South America, the company says.
