During the week ended 23 May, chemical railcar traffic in North America fell year-on-year (YOY) on declines throughout the region but remained ahead on a year-to-date basis. For all of North America, chemical railcar traffic during the week totaled 43,484 carloads, up 1.2% from the previous week but down 2.1% YOY, according to data released on 27 May by the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
