Worldwide demand for ethylene propylene (EP) elastomers is on the rise as auto sales and production increase in Asian countries, according to a new report from IHS Chemical. Demand for the synthetic rubber material—used primarily in automotive parts, single-ply roofing, and appliance parts—is expected to grow 5% annually, from 1.2 million m.t./year in 2011 to 1.5 million m.t./year in 2016, according to the IHS Chemical Ethylene-Propylene Elastomers CEH Marketing Report.
