Dow Chemical has confirmed that four employees were hospitalized after an explosion Thursday afternoon at the Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials facility in North Andover, MA. “Emergency personnel continue to work at the facility to ensure all safety and regulatory requirements are met,” Dow says. “The cause of the incident is not known at this time. An investigation is proceeding with the full cooperation and participation of the company. There is no risk to the community.”...

Five employees have been injured in an explosion this afternoon at Dow Chemical’s North Andover, MA, facility, one critically, according to local news reports. Dow’s Andover operation, which was acquired with Rohm & Haas in 2009, manufacturers metalorganic precursors used to make light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and other semiconductor devices. Dow also makes the materials at Cheonan, South Korea.
