Westlake reports net income for the fourth quarter of $183 million, up 7% year-over-year (YOY) from $171 million on the advantage of converting from propane to ethane feedstock. LyondellBasell’s fourth-quarter earnings have beaten the analysts’ consensus estimate by 15%, with lower feedstock costs more than making up for lower product prices. However, the company expects lower crude oil prices to pressure margins in the year ahead. Fourth-quarter earnings from continuing operations totaled $796 million, down 32% year-over-year (YOY) from $1.177 billion. Sales totaled $10.29 billion, down 8% YOY from $11.138 billion. The quarter included a $715 million non-cash, pre-tax charge for the impact of a lower-of-cost-or-market (LCM) inventory adjustment.
