Celanese and Mitsui & Co. today announced that they are planning a potential methanol joint venture to be located at Celanese’s facility at Bishop, TX. Celanese says it has filed for air permits, and that a final decision to build the plant, which would have a capacity of 1.3 million m.t./year, will consider prevailing methanol market conditions and construction costs, among other factors.
