Ethylene spot prices on the US Gulf Coast have been tumbling since the start of August, probably because buyers are waiting for a clearer view on the market, say analysts at IHS Chemical. The weekly average spot price, assessed at 33.6 cts/lb del USGC for the week ending 30 July, fell to 24 cts/lb for the week ending 20 August, a decline of nearly 30%. The decline continued into the following week, with Monday and Tuesday’s prices averaging 22.8 cts/lb....
