Oxea has begun basic engineering for a 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) unit and a propanol unit at its Bay City, TX, facility. Both are scheduled to start up in late 2016, the company says. The new units are additional to an ongoing expansion that will increase the Bay City plant’s output of butanol and propanol by 25% in the second half of 2014.

Eastman Chemical Company (Kingsport, TN) plans to increase capacity for the production of 2-ethylhexanol (2-EH) at its Longview, TX, site by 20,000 m.t./year. The company expects to complete the project, which will bring the site’s total 2-EH capacity to 57,000 m.t./year, in the fourth quarter.
