Berry Plastics (Evansville, IN) reports net income of $4 million for its first quarter of 2016, down 69% year-over-year (YOY). Sales for the quarter, which ended 2 January, increased 32% YOY to $1.612 billion, mainly on the acquisition of Avintiv in October and increased volumes, partially offset by lower selling prices. Adjusted earnings increased 30% YOY to 35 cts/share on lower costs and higher sales, but missed the average analysts’ estimate of 40 cts/share as compiled by Thomson Reuters (New York)....

Mosaic reports net income for the fourth quarter of $155 million, down 57% year-over-year (YOY) from $361 million. Sales totaled $2.2 billion, down 8.3% YOY. Earnings per share of 44 cts fell short of the consensus analysts’ estimate of 47 cts, as compiled by Thomson Reuters (New York).
