Mexichem (Tlalnepantla, Mexico) is appealing a ruling by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) that the import of the refrigerant hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-134a from China does not harm the refrigerant gas industry in the United States. Chinese producers of the refrigerant, also known as R-134a and 1,1,1,2-tetrafluorethane, could have been hit with hefty antidumping duties of 280.67% and antisubsidy duties averaging 11.14%, after an affirmative determination by the US Department of Commerce on 15 October 2014.
