During the week ended 7 November, chemical railcar traffic in North America increased 0.2% year-over-year (YOY) as a gain in the United States offset a decline in Canada. For all of North America, chemical railcar traffic during the week totaled 42,440 carloads, down 1.5% from the previous week, according to data released on 11 November by the Association of American Railroads (AAR). For the year to date, chemical railcar traffic in North America is up 0.1%, versus a 4.6% decrease in all railcar traffic, according to the AAR.

US October propylene contracts settled higher on Friday at an increase of 0.50 cents per pound, as spot prices have inched higher on the back of fundamentals. The October polymer grade (PG) grade contract settled at 30.50 cents per pound, while the chemical grade (CG) contract settled at 29.00 cents per pound....

Celanese says it will increase the price of vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and ethyl acetate globally on 1 November. VAM prices will increase 3 cts/lb in North America, $60/m.t. in Central and South America, €50/m.t. in Europe and the Middle East, and $50/m.t. in Asia outside China. Ethyl acetate prices will increase 5 cts/lb in North America and $200/m.t. in Central and South America.
